Blake is a business owner and entrepreneur residing in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island.  He has started numerous businesses in the retail and service sectors and has traveled, for business, across North America and the world.

Upon completion of his studies in Halifax, he participated in a number of information technology companies and led a successful divestiture of a regional e-commerce company to a publicly traded company.

Blake received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Prince Edward Island and an Executive MBA from Saint Mary’s University.  His current operating entities revolve around retail management, management consulting, Human Resource consulting and investment financing.

As an entrepreneur Blake has the ability to analyze data and make pragmatic business decisions quickly.  Blake continues to provide strategic advice to help mentor numerous companies across various sectors.


 

MARCIA BECK

Marcia earned her Bachelor of Commerce degree from Saint Mary’s University with a focus in Human Resources and Management in 2008.  In early 2009, she began working in a Human Resource capacity developing HR policies and creating process documentation for private sector businesses.  Marcia currently manages the operations at Island Recruiting and facilitates the foreign hiring process on behalf of clients.

As a member of the “Immigration Task Force”, “Business Under 40 Committee”, and past member of the “Labor Relationships Committee” with the Charlottetown Chamber of Commerce, Marcia is actively studies the HR needs of businesses, and keeps current with the latest Human Resource trends and initiatives.

As Operations Manager, Marcia has the ability to effectively identify and diagnose strategic challenges and recommend appropriate actions for an organization to take.

 

CRAIG DODGE

Craig, our Director of Business Development a native of Newfoundland and Labrador, is a graduate of the University of Prince Edward Island and the Berklee School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.

Craig plays a vital role in sourcing new markets and sales channel opportunities at Island Recruiting & Focal HR. With over 20 years of sales, marketing, and business development experience, he has created business opportunities with companies of various sizes, from SME’s to Fortune 500 organizations.

As a shareholder/owner of a local contact and customer support centre until 2008, he helped grow the company to 165 clients and over 300 employees at its peak. With the sale of the company in 2008, he focused his business and marketing skills on the entertainment industry, specifically the licensing of music to major network television shows and the film industry. He has worked on over 120 television programs, films, and video games across 110 countries, and with networks such as NBC, BBC, History Television, A&E, Fox, NHL Network, Bell, Spike TV, MSG Network, Discovery Channel, Animal Planet, MTV, and The National Geographic Channel.

 

KELLY HAMILTON

Kelly earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from St. Thomas University in 1993 and a Certificate in Human Resources from UPEI/Holland College in 2006. Kelly currently co-manages the operations at Island Recruiting and Focal HR, she also coordinates the foreign worker hiring process for our local clients. Kelly has provide leadership and coordination of several corporate and client training sessions over the past 8 years in her previous role.

Throughout her career, Kelly has worked in various high-paced industries including Finance, IT, HR, audit, and customer contact centres enabling her to apply her superior organizational and problem-solving skills to create a process driven approach to business.

 

BEN MORRISON

Ben earned his Masters of Employment Relations (MER) from Memorial University in Newfoundland, where he completed courses in Human Resources, Labour Relations, and Labour Market Economics. While attending Memorial, Ben worked as a HR Consultant in tourism and a Research Assistant focusing on unionized environments.

Prior to his Masters, Ben graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Co-operative Education and began working in PEI labour market research before moving into recruiting for skilled trades.

As our Human Resources Consultant, Ben provides recruitment services and consultancy to clients in a variety of industries. He works with clients closely in many additional areas including recruitment campaigns, compensation studies, and professional development training sessions. He is interested in workforce development and is currently involved with the Youth Underemployment Action Committee and the Career Development Association of PEI.

Jennifer Cole

Jennifer Cole brings 15 years of Human Resources Recruiting experience. She launched her career in Halifax, NS, where she began a specialization in recruiting and interviewing techniques after graduating from Saint Mary’s University with a Bachelor of Commerce. That eventually led to a diverse and exciting recruiting career that spanned across Canada from Halifax, NS to Victoria, BC, where she worked with and within various unions such as AUPE, ATU, TUCFA, NBU, CAW and UNIFOR. As an islander she is excited to be back home and recruiting in Charlottetown.

 

Wendy Francis

Wendy Francis is a senior HR professional with more than 30 years of public sector work experience including 20 years in human resources management. She holds a Master of Science degree in Human Resources Management from the University of London, U.K., and undergraduate degrees in social work and psychology from Dalhousie University.

Wendy has worked in senior HR positions in both Provincial and Federal public sector organizations. She has been a sessional lecturer at the UPEI School of Business since 2009 where she teaches Human Resources Management and Organizational Behaviour.

Wendy brings a broad range of HR experience to the team including: business and HR planning, change management, policy development, organizational assessment and workforce analysis, training and development, recruitment and selection, employee relations, and performance management.


 

CHRIS HARRIS

Chris is an experienced management consultant and project manager and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Dalhousie University and an Applied Information Technology (AIT) diploma from the Information Technology Institute. Currently, Chris is a Project Manager with FocalHR and Island Recruiting.

He has held management consulting, project manager, business analyst, and accounting positions in multiple sectors including the HR and Information Technology sectors. Exposure to different industries and positions throughout his career has enabled him to develop strong communication, project management, and accounting skills.  Additionally, his skill sets include experience in compensation, requirements elicitation, data analysis, business analysis, business process design/documentation, and product development.  He has specialized industry specific training in courses in Project Management, Developing User Requirements, and information technology.

Chris has been directly involved as a consultant on several compensation studies including the PEI BioAlliance Compensation Study (2011) and the PEI Residential Construction Compensation Study (2011).
